Rachel Chin is a multilingual actor, playwright, and singer.

She is fluent in English, Malay, and Mandarin, and conversant in Cantonese.

As an actor, Rachel has performed in theatrical productions with W!ld Rice, the Singapore Theatre Company, DAMA Orchestra, and the Esplanade. Her screenwork includes lead roles in Chilli Padi, Tuan Yuan Fan, Rookie and Acting 101. She has also guest starred in several TV shows including Tanglin and Avenue 14.

Rachel began playwriting in earnest to cope with her frustration and grief at the deportation of her housemate during the Covid-19 pandemic. She now devotes herself to the craft as a means for healing and activism, seeing theatre as the antidote to apathy. Her work strives to find levity in even the most divisive and challenging themes.

Her plays have been produced by the Yale Cabaret (Mountain Mom, Expats Anonymous), the Theatre of Others (Galatea), MoreLife Theatre (Galatea: a Musical Fable), and the Toy Factory (The Thieves). She has also been commissioned by the Singapore International Festival of the Arts x Centre42 (Where the Hantus At).
